Owners, Andrew and Lori Padula, came up with the name Terra Prata a couple of years ago while gardening in the backyard of their home in Lewiston, Maine. Thinking about how nice the plants were looking and the type of soil mixture they were in, they began to do some research. In a book on plants of the Amazon jungle, there was a mention of a type of soil mix created by the native Amazon tribes. Throughout the jungle, many years ago, when people came across the abandoned tribal sites and farmlands, they found the soil extremely fertile compared to the surrounding jungle. The name of the soil was Terra Prata.
